I was born, raised, and still reside in the Reading, Pennsylvania area. Reading is located in southeastern PA about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia. I have four children (three sons and a daughter) and 4 grandchildren (pictured below).

Professional Details
In 2010, I returned to college to earn my Information Technology degree at the University of Phoenix. Along the way, I noticed that my computer-related talents seem to be optimized for web design. Combining many hours of self-taught techniques with those learned in the classroom has honed my skills as a web designer. Although I returned to a full time job in April 2012, I continue to work on growing my Web Design Portfolio. My many hours of perusing the Internet for ideas has yielded a Library of different techniques and effects.
Throughout the site, I employ different looks, features, and animations in an effort to display some of my skills. Feel free to offer comments, suggestions, or critiques via the contact form. Work Experience
In the past, I have worked 20 years in the restaurant industry as a manager with Burger King®, Dairy Queen®, and Chuck E. Cheese's®. I know where you can have it your way, get treated right, and where a kid can be a kid. In 2002, I transitioned to the construction industry as a trim carpenter. My skills have been successfully tested in the commercial and high end housing construction industry. I have installed custom wine cellars and bar areas, transformed bland rooms into decorative walls and ceilings by using mouldings and wood panels, and installed cabinets, counter tops, shelving, and chalkboards in schools, businesses, and hospitals. It is a wonderful feeling to witness the completed project knowing that my skills played a prominent role.

Since 2011, I have developed sleek modern web sites while continuing to learn the latest design techniques to yield attractive, responsive, and comprehensible sites. I wish to transition from construction to front-end web development. I am a confident and creative designer who is self-motivated, self-sufficent, and detail-oriented. I bring to the table proficient managerial, mechanical, and computer skills as well as an old fashioned work ethic.

Interests & Hobbies
- I enjoy participating in and following sports. I cheer for the Philadelphia and Reading sports teams plus Penn State University.
- I have developed a passion for genealogy and have spent hundreds of hours compiling a worthy family history. My Heiser/Bickel Family Tree is available for viewing on ancestry.com. Although the tree is public to members, non-members may contact me for a special invitation to view the tree.
- Two of my character quirks that may fascinate or irritate others:
- I talk to and answer myself when thinking about a project or issue. When someone questions this quirk, I like to respond, "Sometimes it's the only intelligent conversation happening in the room."
